Scam and Fraud Notice
At FedChoice, your security is our top priority. We want to remind you of some important ways to keep your account safe and avoid falling victim to fraud.
Recently, several members reported scam phone calls that appear to be from the FedChoice’s phone number. The caller asks about a potentially unauthorized transaction and requests personal information such as:
- eBanking username and password
- Account balance
- Transaction details
They may also claim they need to set up an alert for unusual activity through a text message, again impersonating the credit union. The members were instructed to select "YES" and then "NO" in these text messages to supposedly confirm and reverse the transaction.
Do not fall for these scams!
Remember: FedChoice will NEVER ask you for the following information:
- eBanking Username
- eBanking Password
- eBanking Security question answers
- Login Authentication codes (sent via text or email)
If you receive a call, email, or text message asking for any of these details, it is not legitimate. Do not respond or click on any links.
Here's how to protect yourself:
- Be suspicious of unsolicited requests. FedChoice will never contact you out of the blue asking for sensitive user information.
- Verify the source. If you receive a suspicious request, call FedChoice directly yourself using a known phone number or email address.
- Monitor your accounts regularly. Check your transactions frequently for any suspicious activity. If you recieve a call, email, or text message asking about a fraudulent transaction, be sure to check your account to verify that it exists. There is no such thing as a hidden account balance visible only to FedChoice staff.
- Do not approve transactions that you did not place because someone asked you to. While FedChoice may contact you to verify a transaction, we will never instruct you to approve something you did not do.
If you believe you've been a victim of fraud, please contact us as soon as possible.
